School board accepts resignations, looks to fill more teacher slots

About eight teachers resigned at the Tuesday, May 13, meeting of the Catoosa County Board of Education.School system communication specialist Marissa Chambers said the teachers were from several schools throughout the county and resigned "for various reasons." Tourists making a pit stop at the Georgia Visitor Center in Ringgold on May 9 got a little extra surprise as they found Georgia On My Mind Day in full swing as part of National Tourism Week. Fort Oglethorpe seeks injunction against county action on fire department funding

Fort Oglethorpe officials are seeking a court-issued injunction to prevent county commissioners from cutting off funding to the city and volunteer fire departments. Interim City Manager and City Attorney Ron Goulart met with Judge Ralph Hill in LaFayette on Wednesday, May 14, and planned to officially file the injunction on Wednesday, May 21. Commissioners ask Post volunteers for two more months

The Post Volunteer Fire Department received a short reprieve Tuesday night.The Catoosa County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve an additional two months of county funding for the volunteer organization.If the organization accepts the proposal, it will receive $18,000 per month from May 15-July 15. Hutcheson ranks top in state and nation in patient satisfaction

Hutcheson Medical Center is ranked No. 1 in the state for overall patient satisfaction and in the top 1 percent of patient-recommended hospitals in the nation, according to a survey conducted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
